Q1. What inspired your latest piece?
 A. My latest book, Behind The Mask, was inspired by stories told to me by my parents, friends and aunt who lived in France during WWII. In fact, at the end of the book I let my readers know which scenes were based on real-life incidents.My Dad was with the Free French and the French Navy, my Mom and Grandfather worked for the American Consulate in France.

Q2. What advice would you give to inspiring writers?
 A. Don’t feel like the each chapter has to be perfect before you move on to the next one, or you will never finish your story, just go with the flow. There will be plenty of time to go back and edit. Think of a story like a painting, sketch your picture,(write the story) start the colors (fill in more details about your characters, as you get to know them better. Make sure you have used your sense of smell or sound in the scene) than go back and fill in with more layers of color. (Check you grammar, you sentence structure.. short and quick for tense moments, etc. Make sure everything has come together and you have tied up all loose ends) And…. Write , write write!  Don’t give up, even when you feel like no one will ever publish your book.

Q3. What does your family and friends think of your writing? Are they supportive?
A.Gosh yes, my husband is my biggest supporter. He is constantly talking about my work to others and thinking of ways I can promote my books.

Q1. Have you ever had to deal with a writer’s block? If so, how did you overcome it?
A.Yes everyone gets writers block every now and then.At least that's what I believe. I overcome writers block by going for a ride on my motorcycle. It clears my head because I have to pay attention to the road and nothing else.When I get home I can get back to work and usually I am able to just jump right back in.
Q2. How often do you write?
A.I try to write every day. It takes me about 6 months to complete my books but that is because I like to edit, re-edit, and re-edit again.
Q3. What inspired your latest piece?
A.The world today inspired this book. I hear a lot about shutting the borders down and not letting anyone in or out. This book takes it to the extreme but it still is a possibility.

Q1. What inspired your latest piece? 
A. A few years ago I sponsored an after school club called Literary Lions. We would write short stories and poems to share, and at the end of the year we published an anthology for each student to take home. One day we were writing and an idea came to me through a writing prompt. I looked at the prompts my students were choosing from and one fit perfectly with a dream I’d had. I wrote what became the first chapter of my novel and it blew my students away. I put my writing aside and worked on it little by little until last year when I finally sat down and decided to pump out the story. Within three months Something Within – Reveal was born. The upcoming books in the series are already floating around in my head like little clouds filled with drops of inspiration. I’m just waiting for the storm.

Q2. Of all the things you could have done, why write?
A. I’ve always loved to write. When I was a child I was focused more on poetry, but a few short stories sprouted from my wild imagination. I remember coming home from the movies (as a child) and wondering what happened next. After the movie was over I knew the story wasn’t over. I wanted to know what happened to the characters. I didn’t necessarily believe in all of the happily ever afters, and I would sit and imagine all of the tragic things that would happen to the characters next and how they would overcome those problems. I would rewrite my own happy ending…after the tempest. Writing (and my crazy imagination) has always been my passion. I can’t imagine doing anything else.

Q3. How difficult/ easy is it to write books that fall under the same series?
A. Writing books under the same series isn’t too difficult. When I was a child and I imagined all of the things that could happen to characters after the ending, I was already creating a series. Each problem could be a new book. I don’t think any story is ever REALLY over. I mean, until the characters grow old and die, you can always create another antagonist. That being said, some stories are overwritten. I think most series should have a limit. I read one a while back and once I got to book twelve I thought it was over. I just found out there are two more books out and I felt my eyes rolling before they actually did. I thought book twelve (or was it thirteen) ended well. I don’t want to be one of those writers. I think three or four in a series is fine. Then you can move on to other stories. I have too many different stories in my arsenal, and I’d like to shoot them out someday.

Q4. Favourite Word?
A. Though there are many words I love, my favorite is accomplished, because once I’m done writing and my story is out for my readers to enjoy, that’s exactly how I feel.

Q1. What advice would you give to inspiring writers?
A.Write for fun, not for money, because usually there is no money from writing. Better start writing when you are rich, then you don't have to worry about sales -:). For many fellow - authors that I'm in contact with books are more associated with spending rather than earning.

Q2. Apart from writing, what other hobbies, skills, interest or experience do you have?
A. I'm a big Dynamo Kyiv fan. I also watch boxing. Used to indulge into night life and traveling this planet. In the past, when my health allowed - adrenaline inducing activities like sky diving, bungee, dancing on the scene in Chao Phraya brothel in Bangkok and stuff like that-:)

Q3. How do you deal with negative feedbacks/ ratings/criticism?
A. I respect them as legit opinions. I thought the reaction would be worse -:), so I'm pleasantly surprised with lots of positive feedback and I respect negative attitude as well.

Q1. What inspired your latest piece?
A. My latest piece “Glome’s Valley” was inspired by the Heavener Runestone in Heavener, OK located in southeast Oklahoma.  The huge sandstone monolith sits upright with ancient carving that MIGHT be Viking carved into the stone long before Columbus came to America.  The area is beautiful and I was inspired to write an Oklahoma fairy tale complete with a modern boy and his cell phone using an app to contact Thor for help.

Q2. What is you secret ingredient/s for writing a great book?
 A. I love to write several genres.  I am an avid reader and I write children’s books, mystery suspense, and pulp fiction.  I think the multi-genre angle keeps my writing fresh.  I learned a long time ago you can’t “force write” and even though I plan my stories, I start with a spark from my imagination.
 
Q3. How do you feel about Editors?
A. I love my editors.  They make me look good.  I don’t always agree with them at first, but normally they are right because they see things in my writing that I don’t see because I am too close to it.

Q1. How often do you write?
A.I write every day. As soon as my kids leave for school, I have my cup of tea in hand and I head to my office. I honestly have to make myself stop most days. Once I’m writing it’s like the world I live in is gone and I’m submerged into the world I’m writing about.

Q2. How would you like the world to remember you?
A. For me, it’s not about the world remembering me. It’s about my children being proud of their Mom. When I graduated high school, I got married and started my family. I don’t have a college education, or some big degree. I’m a mother and wife first and foremost and seeing that my children are proud of me is all that matters.
 
But, in saying that I would hope to impress upon other writers who think they can’t write just because they don’t have a formal education, work in a grocery store, a fast food joint, or simply choose to be a stay at home Mom, that it is the farthest thing from the truth! We all have a story waiting to be told.

Q3. What does your family and friends think of your writing? Are they supportive?
A. My friends and family always told me I was a good writer that it just came naturally to me. In fact, if my best friend could she would like to pound that fact into my brain! LOL
But, I would’ve never continued to write if one of my friends hadn’t told me she loved my book Mixers, and promptly asked when the next one going to be finished. After that, I wrote the second book in a month, and I’ve kept going ever since.
 
My husband Bob is truly the sweetest man. He and my children support me 100%. Bob is an Iron worker out of Boston, and on the back of his truck he has a 25”X17” magnet of the image below of three of my books. This is how much my very handsome rugged husband loves and supports me. I don’t know if I could go onto a job site with this on my truck if I was a man! LOL.

Q1. How often do you write?
A. Every day… ok, most days. I aim for an hour a day, and between blogging, social media, guest posts, and my WIP I do at least that if not more. But I am trying to work more time into my WIPs. I think I need to start spending an hour a day just on my WIP!

Q2. What inspired your latest piece?
A. Hell School- Fresh Meat (Due out in March) is actually based on my very real and very terrifying experience of being stalked in high school. It will be a four part series.

Q3. Of all the things you could have done, why write?
A. Ha-ha, I ask myself that quite often! Honestly, because I cannot stop writing. I have dabbled in a lot of crafts from acting, modelling, and performing to marketing, data entry and retail, but for as long as I can remember I have always enjoyed story telling. From 1st grade on I knew I wanted to be a writer. Throughout all those other jobs, I never stopped writing. I just knew that I needed something to support me while I wrote.

A. Ha, it changes often! I love words and am always looking to learn new words. Currently my favorite is petrichor (the smell of rain.)

Q1. Of all the things you could have done, why write?
A.   I’ve always loved storytelling so writing is a natural extension of that aspect of my personality.  It’s very rewarding for me to bring characters to life on the page and send them on some kind of journey where they learn something.  At least, that is the ultimate goal.

Q2.  How do you juggle writing with your daily life? (Especially if you aren’t a full-time writer)
A. It’s tough.  Coming up with a premise is very specific exercise where I sit down and brainstorm ideas for an hour at a time until I find something worth pursuing.   I may do a couple brainstorming sessions or a dozen, it depends on inspiration and is therefore unpredictable.  Once I have begun writing though, I think about the story at random times: while driving, waiting in line at the store, or showering in the morning.  Since I don’t get to write every day, I’ll scribble down ideas as they come to me.  Usually, it’s a line or two of dialog. In some cases, it’s an idea for a new chapter. They are the fuel I’ll use to write when I get a chance to sit down at my laptop.

Q3. How do you know your story is done and is ready for publication?
A. I read the story out loud and hear how it sounds.  If the writing is good and the characters sound real, if it feels like a complete story that I enjoy, I’ll turn it over to be copy edited and published.
